Destination Shoot Planning & Tips

We absolutely love destination engagement sessions, but we approach them a little differently than a traditional local shoot.

Rather than photographing at many different spots across a city, we keep destination sessions focused on a small number of carefully selected locations. This allows us to create a cohesive gallery with a consistent style instead of a collection of unrelated backgrounds.

One of the biggest misconceptions about destination shoots is that visiting more places automatically means better photos. In reality, constantly driving, parking, changing outfits, and rushing between locations often takes away from the experience.

By limiting the session to 1–3 meaningful locations, we can spend more time:

• - Capturing genuine moments
• - Exploring the best angles and light
• - Creating cinematic portraits
• - Allowing you to relax and enjoy the experience

Our goal is not to photograph every landmark in a city. Our goal is to create timeless images that feel intentional and artistic. A beautiful location photographed well is far more valuable than five locations photographed in a hurry.

• - Golden Hour at sunrise or sunset
• - Privacy and crowd levels
• - Scenic variety within a short distance
• - Accessibility and walking time
• - How well the location complements your outfits and overall vision

For example, in a destination city we may choose one dramatic landscape location and one elegant architectural location rather than spending the session traveling across the entire city.

The best engagement photos happen when you're interacting naturally with each other. Keeping the itinerary simple allows the session to feel less like a checklist and more like an experience together.

• 1 primary location for the majority of the session per day
• 1 secondary location nearby for variety
• Optional outfit change if time and light allow
